I am currently working on my field statements in the areas of Sociology of Aging and Sociology of Disability. I am interested in the aging of people with developmental/intellectual disabilities (specifically in regard to historical treatment of people with developmental disabilities), institutionalization/ deinstitutionalization, quality of life and quality of care, successful aging, the Disability Rights Movement, and social programming initiatives. |

My work focuses on intimacy and violence, with special attention to the social and psychological correlates of sexual violence. My recent research has centered on representations of sexual violence, especially in pornography and in misogynistic subcultures. Although grounded in feminist theoretical approaches, my work is highly interdisciplinary, blending psychoanalytic, macro-sociological, micro-sociological, and criminological approaches to the study of violence. |
