Long Description
Current research projects:

1. Atlas of Global Inequality.  The online Atlas, built by a group of students, faculty, and staff, can be seen at http://ucatlas.ucsc.edu. We are currently working on a print Atlas of Global Inequalities. A revised, more interactive and more user-friendly, version of the online Atlas is also in the works.

2. Water: gender and the dynamics of access to water in the global South: There are historically significant improvements in life expectancy, well-being, education and women's autonomy to be achieved by extending water and sanitation infrastructure to the slums of major cities in the developing world. Recent experiments suggest that a combination of institutional, technical and financial innovations can facilitate the expansion of urban infrastructure to achieve these historic advances. My research seeks to explore these possibilities. An initial working paper on water scarcity in Kibera, Nairobi can be found at Center for Global, International & Regional Studies eScholoarship Repository.
